Toddler Program
"A Time To Begin"
(12 months - 3 years)
At Kendalwood Montessori, "A time to begin"
is in our Toddler Program. Our Toddler Program offers children
and families a collaborative beginning with the Montessori
method. A small student population in our Toddler classroom
helps to bridge the child's transition from home to school.
Amid the fast pace of daily life, we have created a nurturing,
unhurried place where your child can come and spend her day.
Our program is in touch with a toddler's curious and independent
nature, supporting their intrinsic quest for autonomy.
The Montessori toddler teacher is the connector to the environment,
and the observer and guide to self-discovery. As educators
we know the importance of this wondrous yet sensitive stage
of development. Kendalwood toddler teachers hold ECE and/or
Montessori diplomas.
Toddlers are committed to achieving independence through
opportunities presented to them daily from direct contact
with their surroundings. They are driven by their senses.
They must see, hear, touch, and taste their environment. All
the materials in a toddler classroom are based on the child
using two or more of his senses at once. Our toddler classroom
has been carefully designed and equipped with well placed
size-appropriate furnishings; including gross and fine motor
development, and language skills. The exercises of practical
life include; care of the environment (both in and outdoors),
care of self, and refinement of grace and courtesy. These
activities are well thought-out to develop coordination and
assurance, which guide the child to build positive social/emotional
experiences, inner security, and the necessary skill of concentration.
Kendalwood Montessori School's licensed program maintains
a 5:1 teacher to student ratio with a maximum of 15 students
in the class. A nutritious hot lunch and snacks are included
as part of our daily program. Yoga, dramatic play, art, Kindermusic
and French are also part of our Toddler Program. |
