Casa Program
"A Time To Explore"
(3 - 6 years)
One only has to visit our sun-filled Casa classrooms to get
a sense of the remarkable community spirit within. In a Montessori
classroom, children are in the process of discovering who
they are and learning how to live well in a community.
Upon observation
you will see a variety of learning materials, a great deal of
movement, active cooperation and above all communal learning.
For example, a three-year-old may be washing tables while a
nearby four-year-old composes words using the moveable alphabet,
and a five-year-old performs multiplication with specially designed
materials. In this three year classroom, "work inspires work". There
is constant interaction in the Casa Community classrooms. Children
learn to get along with children of different ages and abilities,
to respect each other's work and workplace, and to treat each
other with courtesy, respect and consideration. This meticulously
prepared environment provides an ideal space for the Casa student
to open themselves up to dynamic learning and to becoming a receptive
participant in his lessons. Casa is "a time
to explore" freely,
individually or as a community. |
